The White House was designed in 1790 by George Washington and Pierre L ‘Enfant. Completed in 1800, it was the first President who lived in the White House. The house survived a fire in 1814 during the War of 1812. The Blue Room, located on the State Floor, is used for receptions, receiving lines, and small dinners.
